This is us….

In 1984, two sisters, Diane and Lisa, moved from suburban Philadelphia to Boca Raton, Florida, with their parents, finding the city an absolute paradise. There, they established their lives, each raising a son, while maintaining a connection to the rural lifestyle they originated from.

Diane pursued a career in the dental industry, while Lisa thrived in the financial world. Boca Raton flourishes, becoming a sought-after residence for the affluent, experiencing tremendous growth.

Now, 35 years later…Diane met and married Loren, who hails from Independence, Missouri.

A casual discussion about land owned by Loren in Oklahoma sparks a significant conversation about departing Florida, heading out west, and embarking on a homestead journey.

As you can imagine, there were countless discussions, road trips, extensive Zillow searches across various states, multiple flights booked to explore potential locations and endless contemplations. Then, suddenly, we found it - the perfect place. 32 acres, some wooded, some pasture, water and a creek! We were in Neosho, Missouri.

In September 2019, our journey began towards our personal haven. Overcoming numerous obstacles along the way (check out our blog for the detailed adventure—it's quite a story), Holding onto their faith in Jesus Christ, Diane and Loren made the initial move. Soon after, Lisa, accompanied by her son Mario, and their mother, Helen, joined them on this exciting expedition. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

What’s next?

Here we stand, surrounded by opportunities at every turn. Opportunities to begin anew, to immerse ourselves in a small-town community, and to give back while doing what we cherish.

Currently, our menagerie includes cows, chickens and goats. We take great delight in raising them. They bring us immense joy, not to mention the bounty of eggs they provide. As for the cows and goats, they will continue to expand our herd with MORE cows and goats!

Throughout our journey, we’ve gained knowledge about clearing land, finding and hauling hay and constructing shelters for our beloved livestock. Watching Bully, our awesome bull, head butt into the tractor while the cows find just the right spot to escape the fencing.

We’ve discovered that cows have a fondness for apples and watermelon, while goats delight in animal crackers. As for our chickens, it seems they have an affinity for just about everything!
